Oil Changes Every 3,000 Miles Used To Be Industry Standard, But Things Change

The 3,000-mile oil change was the standard for decades. And many people still keep that as the benchmark for their oil change schedule today.

However, with today's modern engines and all of the strides that have been made with synthetic oil blends, most vehicles can now go anywhere between 5,000-7,500 miles between oil changes.

These new standards may come to the chagrin of your neighborhood quick oil change franchise, but here at Lithia Reno Subaru in Reno, NV we pride ourselves on arming our customers with the knowledge they need in order to save them money. There is no use in paying for twice the number of oil changes in a year than you actually need.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with keeping up your 3,000-mile oil change schedule if that is what you prefer to do. It certainly isn't going to hurt anything. And if you are unsure about what your auto manufacturer recommends for your vehicle, you can either check your owner's manual, or ask one of our service experts here at Lithia Reno Subaru. We would be glad to help.
