Subaru of America, Inc. recently revealed that the company had donated over $23 million to local and national charities during the 2016 Share the Love event. Conducted at the end of each year, this annual event sees Subaru donate $250 for every new Subaru sold or leased -- with the donation going to a charity of the customer 's choice.

In 2016, the ninth-annual event contributed to four national charities: Meals on Wheels America, Make-A-Wish, the ASPCA and the National Park Foundation. Each Subaru dealer also selected a local charity to support, providing 660 worthy local causes an opportunity to receive donations from the campaign. Certain local dealers participated in the hometown donation matching program, adding $1.3 million to Subaru's contribution and providing a total $24.8 million donation to national and local charities. In total, Subaru of America has donated a total of more than $94 million during the course of the nine Share the Love campaigns.
