Battery Service May Delay the Need for Replacement

Your battery doesn't have enough power to start the engine. You may think that it's time to replace it. Before you buy a battery, try servicing the old one first. You may still get some life out of it.

Check the battery's voltage. If it's not totally dead, the battery may need a simple recharge to get back up and running. Some batteries allow you to see how much water is left inside. Remove the battery cables. Gently pry off the top covers and peer inside. If the water isn't close to the top, try adding some distilled water into the cells. Put the top covers back on the battery. Then, put the cables back in place. Check the voltage again. You may have just revived the battery.

Bring your car to the service department here at Lithia Reno Subaru. We can help you determine if the battery needs servicing or replacement.
